Provigil 100 mg (Modafinil)

SIDE EFFECTS

Common side effects are headache, nausea and upset stomach, anxiety or nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, dry mouth. 

Serious side effects include peeling of skin, sores, blistering, hallucinations, extreme confusion, depression, chest pain, increased heartbeat, swelling of the face, lips, tongue; trouble breathing, suicidal thoughts. 

INTERACTIONS 

• Provigil 100 mg antagonizes hormonal contraceptives e.g. ethinyl estradiol.
• Modafinil levels may be decreased by CYP3A4 inducers like Carbamazepine, Phenobarbital, Rifampin and decreased by CYP3A4/5 e.g. Ketoconazole, Erythromycin
• Modafinil can reduce the blood level of anticoagulants like Warfarin, Heparin, etc making them less effective and increasing the risk of blood clots. 
• Combining Provigil 100 mg with SSRIs or benzodiazepines may alter their breakdown or lead to increased CNS side effects. 
• Drinking alcohol while taking Modafinil can increase dizziness and impair judgement. 

PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS 

• Inform your physician if you are allergic to modafinil, armodafinil or any other ingredient of the medication. 
• Before starting the medication, inform your physician about all the prescription, non-prescription and natural supplements that you use. 
• Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice when using the medication. 
• Keep this medication away from children and pets. 
• Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects your reaction time and judgement. 
• Use a backup birth control method while taking Provigil 100 mg and for one month after stopping. 
• Use with extreme caution or avoid it if you have a history of cardiovascular issues. 
• Provigil 100 mg is generally contraindicated in pregnant women.
